Transamerica Employees Volunteer to Help Build Homes With Habitat for Humanity of Metro Denver
Transamerica announced today that its employees in Denver will participate with Habitat for Humanity of Metro Denver in the construction of a new home in the city’s Elyria Swansea neighborhood, one of Habitat Denver’s newest developments.
On June 11, 2019, Transamerica participated in the dedication ceremony of a new home in Denver’s Sheridan Square community, Habitat Denver’s largest development yet. Over the last seven years, Transamerica employees have volunteered with Habitat for Humanity in more than a dozen states and have helped to transform existing properties or to build entirely new, affordable homes. Transamerica sponsored its first full house build in Denver in 2016–2017. In 2018, more than 50 Denver-based Transamerica employees volunteered to help a family in need fulfill their dream of home ownership.
Transamerica continues to support the work of Habitat for Humanity of Metro Denver as a Cornerstone Sponsor. In June 2019, Transamerica approved a $100,000 grant, which will go toward making more dreams a reality. Habitat for Humanity aims to give hard-working families a leg up that helps make purchasing a home more affordable. This assistance can be especially helpful in a growing city like Denver, where affordable housing options are valued by families.
“Transamerica works every day to help families work toward achieving Wealth + Health. Habitat for Humanity’s conviction that everyone deserves a safe and healthy place to live is directly in line with Transamerica’s strategy,” said Marijn Smit, Head of Transamerica Asset Management and member of Habitat for Humanity of Metro Denver’s Board of Directors. “Home ownership can play an outsized role in building financial security, and can go a long way toward accumulating and maintaining wealth. A healthy living environment also contributes to the development of healthy habits that can enhance a person’s quality of life. Transamerica is pleased to collaborate with Habitat for Humanity to help families meet these needs.”
Since 2012, Transamerica employees nationwide have dedicated thousands of volunteer hours to help families build houses with Habitat for Humanity.
