Transamerica to Participate in Inaugural Corridor Corporate Games in Cedar Rapids

Transamerica today announced its participation in the first annual Corridor Corporate Games in Cedar Rapids, a series of summer activities that promotes healthy competition among local companies to help foster company teamwork, pride, and wellness.

The Corridor Corporate Games offer numerous opportunities to participate, including competitive and non-competitive activities on an individual or team basis. Competitive activities include bowling, 3-on-3 basketball, track and field, dodgeball and tug of war, among many other events. For those who prefer non-competitive activities, the competition offers a cycling tour ride, nature walk, sunrise yoga, Zumba and more. Employees of all companies and municipal or government agencies or departments in the Cedar Rapids and Iowa City area are eligible to compete.  Employees can also earn points for volunteering to assist with the activities.

The 20-plus events will take place during the weekdays and weekends in June and July at various locations in the Cedar Rapids and Iowa City areas. The top three finishers of the competitive games will be awarded medals in most of the individual and team sports.

Leaderboard standing will be posted on the Corridor Corporate Games website. At the end of the competition, trophies will be awarded to the top teams in each division at an awards ceremony.

Transamerica hosted the competition’s kickoff meeting on April 1 in the company’s Stortz Auditorium, and more than 350 Cedar Rapids employees signed up for various events.

“Transamerica’s focus is on helping people improve their overall well-being by managing their wealth and health. The Corridor Games are a wonderful opportunity for our employees to engage in healthy activities that also benefit the healthcare needs of our community,” said Jim Beardsworth, Transamerica Senior Vice President and Head of Corporate Development. “Our employees have embraced this challenge and are looking forward to taking an active part in some friendly competition.”

Proceeds from the Corridor Corporate Games will support the University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital. Since 1919, the hospital has been dedicated to meeting the healthcare needs of children and families in the area.
