Transamerica Employees Step Up for Inaugural Global “Force for Good Week”

May 23, 2023

Our purpose to help people live their best lives was on full display as Transamerica employees joined colleagues from across the globe to celebrate our first annual “Force for Good Week.” From May 8 to May 12, Aegon and Transamerica employees rolled up their sleeves and lent a helping hand to the charitable organizations they care about most in the communities where they live and work.

From the Netherlands to the U.S., volunteers donated their time to dozens of local causes, giving back to their communities. In Cedar Rapids, Iowa—home of the largest concentration of Transamerica employees in the U.S.—employees supported several charities, including Aging Services, where they pulled weeds and planted flowers for older adult homeowners, and Camp Courageous, where they removed invasive species and split and distributed firewood.

“We recognize that outside of our day jobs, we are members of our community. Every year, Aegon and Transamerica employees volunteer thousands of hours of their time to help create a brighter and more secure future for our colleagues and neighbors,” said Maurice Perkins, Chief Corporate Affairs Officer at Transamerica. “The success of our inaugural ‘Force for Good Week’ makes it clear that our dedication to helping people live their best lives goes well beyond our corporate walls.”

Across the U.S., our employees demonstrated what it means to be a “Force for Good” in a variety of ways. In Baltimore, where Transamerica’s headquarters are located, employees volunteered with Penn-Mar Human Services to help beautify a residential home for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Employees in Denver worked with Junior Achievement at the Transamerica Finance Park to teach teenagers about budgeting, credit and financial planning. In St. Petersburg, Florida, employees stepped up to alleviate food insecurity by serving meals at Trinity Café, Feeding Tampa Bay’s free, full-service restaurant for those in need of a healthy meal. Employees in Washington D.C., Plano, Texas, and Johns Creek, Georgia, also assisted their local food banks by packing food and supplies for families in need.

As part of our year-round focus on community volunteerism, Transamerica offers eligible employees paid hours every year to spend volunteering. In 2022, Aegon and Transamerica employees in the U.S. contributed over 8,000 hours of volunteer time to the causes they cherish.
