Lexi is having a baby! Preparing for a new addition to her family can be a bit overwhelming, but she feels secure in the fact that she is enrolled in her employer-paid group term life insurance, short-term and long-term disability with integrated absence management, and hospital indemnity insurance.

1. Lexi’s Due Date is Approaching

Because she has both short- and long-term disability insurance with integrated absence management, she makes a simple call to Transamerica and a specialist provides guidance and answers all her questions. She is also assigned to a case specialist, Kelly.

2. Kelly Takes it From Here

Kelly opens a claim, notifies Lexi’s employer of the claim and expected leave date, then makes a courtesy call to Lexi’s care provider to request necessary medical forms.  

3. Maternity Leave

Once Lexi gives birth, Kelly tracks her absence, updates her employer, and ensures Lexi gets her weekly short-term disability payments for her three-month leave. 

4. Extended Disability

When Lexi isn’t cleared to go back to work after 3 months, Kelly also handles her long-term disability claims and keeps her employer informed on Lexi’s progress with real-time reporting.

5. Back to Work

Kelly informs Lexi that her healthcare provider has cleared her to go back to work. She also updates Lexi’s employer. Kelly assists with necessary workspace adjustments and getting Lexi
back to work.

Now that Lexi is home with her new baby, she knows her disability insurance with integrated absence management will help provide an income while she recovers during her leave, and Kelly will continue to manage the logistics of her long-term disability insurance claim until she returns to work.
