AEGON TRANSAMERICA FOUNDATION
Serving our communities
Making the places their employees live and work even better — it’s just one way Transamerica helps people live their best lives. As part of that commitment, Transamerica established the Aegon Transamerica Foundation. The nonprofit, private foundation provides local and national grants, as well as an employee matching gift program.

What we support
The Aegon Transamerica Foundation approach focuses on financial and social empowerment to make our communities more inclusive, so that people in them can live longer, more fulfilling lives. The nonprofit organizations we support meet the following criteria.
- Encourages self-reliance and empowers people socially by enhancing their adaptability, skills and capabilities
- Empowers people financially by building financial awareness and knowledge and providing relevant tools
- Active in a market in which we operate
- Includes opportunities for employees and other stakeholders to contribute (time, effort, knowledge)
- Is a distinct and innovative initiative
“As chair of the Foundation, I have a direct line of sight to how we support the communities where we live and work. I’m proud of the impact we have on society through our charitable contributions, relief efforts, and support of organizations to help build stronger, more resilient communities.”
How we help
From grant programs to matching gifts to employee volunteer hours, the primary goal of the Foundation is to have a positive impact on society.
Local and national grants
We believe in the power of corporate philanthropy, and the grants we provide improve the well-being of our local communities and beyond. The Foundation evaluates requests for grants based on where a charitable program or organization is located, as well as their area of focus.
Matching gift program
To amplify its impact, the Foundation offers a Matching Gift Program for Transamerica employees. The program is designed to extend the reach of employee giving, providing essential funding that can help vital nonprofits meet the increasing demands of today’s world.
United Way
To ensure every person in every community has access to resources to improve education, financial stability, and health, Transamerica conducts an annual United Way campaign. In 2023, we gave over $942,000 to the charity through employee contributions, proceeds from a silent auction, and a 50% match from the Aegon Transamerica Foundation.

Our social impact
Through charitable donations and employee engagement, we’re making things better on a local and national level. The Foundation publishes a national annual report that shows the wide range of our total impact, as well as local impact reports for eight communities across the country.

Project spotlight
We firmly believe that our responsibility to help others extends beyond our corporate walls. These are just some of the ways the Aegon Transamerica Foundation strives to bring that to life in our communities.
Junior Achievement
We know the importance of financial literacy. At Junior Achievement, it’s their mission. The organization works to prepare young people to succeed in a global economy. We’re proud to be part of this work through Foundation support of three local chapters: Rocky Mountain, Eastern Iowa, and Central Maryland, and are the presenting sponsor of two Junior Achievement Finance Parks in the Denver area.
Through JA Finance Park, students immerse themselves in a real-world process involving budgeting, investments, philanthropy, banking, and more. One of their newest facilities, the Free Enterprise Center, delivers inspirational learning experiences in financial literacy, entrepreneurship, and career readiness to thousands of students.
Special Operations Warrior Foundation (SOWF)
To help the surviving children of Special Operations Forces, the Foundation sponsored the “Join Forces Texas Style” event in Dallas. The primary goal of the event, and of the SOWF, is to provide full financial assistance for college.
March of Dimes
Championing the health and well-being of all moms and babies is the mission of March of Dimes. The Foundation has been the premier sponsor for their annual charity event in Washington, D.C.
Women Lead Change
Designed to enhance awareness of how to support and help advance women, this two-day conference offered professional development and networking opportunities. The Foundation was a platinum sponsor of the event, and more than 100 Transamerica and Aegon employees attended.
Emergency relief
We recognize that Transamerica employees are also members of their communities. They’re neighbors who want to lend a hand to those in need, in or out of their neighborhood. That’s why the Foundation also seeks to help people affected by natural disasters or emergencies.
Maui Wildfires
To help those impacted by the devastating wildfires, the Foundation issued an emergency $100,000 grant to the Red Cross. It also matched employee donations, which generated an additional $20,192 in Foundation and employee support.
Hurricane Ian
The Foundation's emergency grant to the American Red Cross helped provide food, shelter, and comfort for people facing the devastation left behind by Hurricane Ian. The storm was one of the fiercest in U.S. history, costing many lives and knocking out power to more than 2.5 million people.
