I’m enthusiastic about Transamerica’s focus on Wealth + Health^SM, as I believe a person’s physical well-being is absolutely as important as their financial security. The two are inextricably linked.

I’ve been honored to serve on the Board of Trustees of the University of Pittsburgh, as Pitt plays an important role in the lives of its students as well as the economy in Western Pennsylvania. I’m also an active advocate for preserving great journalism, which is incredibly important at this time in our nation’s history.

This work — as well as eating well, exercising and constantly reading — keeps me healthy and gives me purpose.

Mr. Chavern is President and CEO of News Media Alliance and on the Board of Trustees of the University of Pittsburgh.

David Chavern is President and CEO of News Media Alliance, the news industry’s largest trade organization. His focus has been on developing a new brand and identity for the organization, as well as telling the powerful story of the news industry. His 30-year career has included a variety of executive strategic and operation roles, and he recently completed a decade-long tenure at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, where he served as President of the Center for Advanced Technology & Innovation (2014 – 2015), Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer (2007 – 2014) and prior to that, as a Vice President and Chief of Staff.

He holds an MBA from Georgetown University (The McDonough School of Business), a Juris Doctor from the Villanova School of Law, and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Pittsburgh.
