Building Stronger Communities: The Aegon Transamerica Foundation's Impact in 2023

The Aegon Transamerica Foundation is pleased to release its 2023 Annual Report, which details the Foundation’s financial contributions last year. With more than $7.5 million in charitable donations reaching more than 900 organizations across the country, the latest report illustrates the Foundation’s strong commitment to supporting nonprofit programs that foster meaningful change in the communities where Transamerica employees live and work.

With the Foundation’s contributions—and the volunteer commitment of Transamerica employees—we are making a lasting positive impact that can help people live longer, more fulfilling lives.”

In 2023, the Foundation contributed to more than 900 nonprofit organizations across the United States, demonstrating the remarkable scale of its efforts. The Foundation also expanded its employee matching gift program, which gives Transamerica and Aegon employees in the U.S. an opportunity to increase the impact of their personal giving to eligible 501(c)(3) nonprofits with a dollar-for-dollar matching donation from the Foundation.

From supporting emergency relief efforts to funding programs aimed at increasing financial literacy, the Foundation's strategic approach to charitable giving is comprehensive and responsive. Here are a few standout examples from 2023:

  • In June, the Foundation contributed $25,000 to March of Dimes and was a premier sponsor of the nonprofit’s Signature Chefs Gala charity event in Washington, D.C. Since 1938, March of Dimes has been dedicated to improving the health of mothers and babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth, and infant mortality.
  • In April, the Foundation was a Platinum Sponsor of the two-day Women Lead Change conference in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, which offered attendees benefits like professional development, networking opportunities and enhancing knowledge and awareness of how to support and help advance women.
  • In August, after a series of wildfires devastated Maui, Hawaii, the Foundation announced a $100,000 donation to the American Red Cross to support disaster relief efforts. In addition, the Foundation matched donations made by Transamerica employees.
  • In September, the Foundation pledged its continuing support as the presenting sponsor of Junior Achievement-Rocky Mountain’s newest Finance Park, helping Junior Achievement double its capacity and provide an additional 25,000 students in the Denver metro area with an opportunity to learn the knowledge and skills they need to make intelligent, long-term financial decisions. 
  • In October, the Foundation donated $150,000 to Hope & Heroes, a charity that funds life-saving work on childhood cancer and blood disorder treatment and research. Approximately 600 physicians, researchers, and healthcare providers across seven pediatric cancer centers in the New York Tri-State area benefit from Hope & Heroes’ support.
  • In December, the Family Tree, a Baltimore-based nonprofit focused on preventing child abuse and neglect, needed immediate assistance to support its free short-term childcare program. The Foundation came through with a $100,000 donation to help ensure that the program, Kids Care Plus, could continue to offer a safe and nurturing environment for young people when they need it most.
  • During Transamerica’s annual United Way campaign, Transamerica employees and the Foundation together helped raise nearly $1 million, with the Foundation matching 50% of all employee donations. As one of the world's largest privately funded charities, United Way seeks to improve lives by mobilizing the caring power of communities around the world to advance the common good.
