Douglas L. Brown

Chair of the Risk Committee and Member of the Nominating & Governance Committee

I am most excited about Transamerica’s redefinition of the value it can bring to its customers, which is based on a well-defined strategy that links financial and physical well-being.

The causes about which I’m most passionate include land preservation, health initiatives, and childhood education.

I relax and recharge by walking, playing golf, reading, and spending time with family and life-long friends.

Favorite quote:

“It is not the critic who counts...The credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena...who strives valiantly; who errs, who comes short again and again...but who does actually strive to do the deeds...who spends himself in a worthy cause...so that his place shall never be with those cold and timid souls who neither know victory nor defeat.” – Theodore Roosevelt
