Transamerica is pleased to celebrate the results of the Zach Johnson Foundation Classic, an annual fundraiser and golf tournament in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, that supports Kids on Course, a nonprofit program of the Zach Johnson Foundation.

The event, held on July 1 at the Elmcrest Country Club in Cedar Rapids, raised $1 million in support of educational initiatives that help put local students on a path to post-secondary education. Transamerica served as the title sponsor of the event and over two-thirds of the event's 300 volunteers were Transamerica employees, demonstrating the company’s steadfast community commitment.

"We are incredibly thankful to Transamerica for their long-term support of the Zach Johnson Foundation Classic," said Eric Christiansen, executive director of the Zach Johnson Foundation. "Its commitment to our cause helps us continue to make a meaningful impact on the lives of children in our community, providing them with the tools and opportunities they need to thrive."

The Kids on Course program, founded in 2011, is a beacon of hope, dedicated to providing academic and enrichment opportunities to under-resourced students in Cedar Rapids. The program provides tutoring, parent engagement strategies, health support and more to put students on course to graduate college. The funds raised from this year's classic—including Transamerica’s sponsorship—will directly fuel these efforts, ensuring that more children have the resources and support they need to not just succeed, but to flourish in school and beyond.

Zach Johnson, PGA Tour champion and native of Cedar Rapids, also shared his appreciation for Transamerica's sponsorship. "It is an honor to have Transamerica as a partner for this event," Johnson said. "The company’s dedication to giving back to the community and supporting Kids on Course is truly commendable. Together, we are making a significant difference in the lives of these kids, and I could not be prouder of what we've accomplished. We are all deeply grateful for Transamerica's support."

Transamerica's involvement in the Zach Johnson Foundation Classic highlights how the company is a force for good on a local level—in Cedar Rapids and throughout the U.S. As a leader in the financial services industry, Transamerica recognizes the importance of investing in the future of young people and is dedicated to contributing to programs that either expand opportunities and capabilities for everyone or equip people with the skills they need to achieve financial security. Transamerica’s largest office is in Cedar Rapids, and its employees there annually volunteer at the Classic, in addition to many other important causes.

"Throughout our 21-year partnership with Zach, we have been thrilled to be a part of what he has accomplished on the golf course, but we are especially proud of his successes with the Zach Johnson Foundation and the Kids on Course program,” said Laura Wirth, head of corporate development at Transamerica. “Our drive to help people live their best lives truly extends beyond our corporate walls. Stepping up on behalf of our neighbors in Cedar Rapids, and ensuring our kids can achieve their full potential, is a clear example of our dedication.”
