Living with Purpose: Transamerica Employees Shine During ‘Force for Good Month’

Philanthropy was in full bloom during this year’s Force for Good Month event at Transamerica. Throughout May, employees across the United States demonstrated their unwavering dedication to Transamerica’s purpose—helping people live their best lives—by devoting thousands of hours to various charitable initiatives.

"Our Transamerica family truly outdid themselves during Force for Good Month this year,” said Maurice Perkins, Chief Corporate Affairs Officer at Transamerica. “The level of enthusiasm and engagement was nothing short of inspiring. It was a resounding success that showcased how we are living our purpose by coming together to tune in to the needs of our communities."

In the month of May alone, Transamerica employees from coast to coast logged a staggering 2,000 hours of volunteer time, engaging in a diverse range of impactful efforts:

  • In Cedar Rapids, Iowa, volunteers taught financial literacy to middle school students and came together to fight childhood hunger by packing nearly 200 nutritious meals for Meals from the Heartland. Additionally, Cedar Rapids employees collaborated with Sleep in Heavenly Peace to build 50 beds for children.

  • Employees in Baltimore partnered with Junior Achievement and the Ed Reed Foundation to educate students from the SEED School of Maryland on vital financial literacy skills like budgeting, investing, and financial planning.

  • Volunteers in Denver assisted children with reading skills at Boys & Girls Club, participated in a Habitat for Humanity build, and worked with the Gabby Krause Foundation to provide comfort to children facing life-threatening illnesses by packing "Bags of Fun." Denver employees also supported Soldiers' Angels by delivering food to around 160 veterans in need.

  • Employees from Plano, Texas, St. Paul, Minnesota, and central Arkansas also stepped up to combat hunger by volunteering at various food banks, collectively supporting those in need by packing food and preparing meals.

  • In Canton, Massachusetts, employees volunteered at the Cambridge Health Alliance Mobile Market and worked with Cradles to Crayons to offer essential aid to low-income families with children.

  • And in Washington, D.C., Transamerica employees participated in the American Council of Life Insurers Capital Challenge, racing alongside members of Congress, administration officials, federal judges and active military members to support Junior Achievement’s financial literacy programs.

As part of the company’s year-round focus on community volunteerism, Transamerica offers eligible employees 12 paid hours every year to spend volunteering. In 2023, Aegon and Transamerica employees in the U.S. turned their purpose into action by contributing nearly 11,000 hours to causes close to their hearts, underscoring their commitment to fostering positive change and creating a brighter future for everyone.
