  • Downturns are normal. While declines can be unsettling, the U.S. stock market has been resilient. In general, markets have delivered long-term gains following temporary dips.
  • Don't try to “time the market.” Selling investments when markets decline could “lock in” losses and prevent you from benefiting from a market rebound.
  • Create a long-term strategy and stick with it. Make adjustments only when your goals or circumstances change — not in response to volatile markets.
