Transamerica Elevates Three Leaders to Board Roles

Transamerica elevated three leaders to Board roles in October. Transamerica appointed Bonnie Gerst as President of Financial Assets, Matt Keppler as Chief Financial Officer, and Andy Williams as General Counsel. Matt Keppler joins the Transamerica Executive Board, while Bonnie Gerst and Andy Williams join the Transamerica Management Board. All three leaders report to Will Fuller, Transamerica’s President & CEO. Andy Williams also reports to Onno van Klinken, Group General Counsel for Transamerica’s parent company, Aegon.

Bonnie Gerst brings more than 25 years of industry experience to the role of President of Financial Assets. In this role, she is responsible for optimizing Transamerica’s closed and in-force business blocks. Following her prior work as a CPA and CFO, Bonnie joined Transamerica in 2000, serving in various financial leadership roles across Aegon and Transamerica. She has been at the forefront of mergers and acquisitions, as well as the implementation of Solvency II. She most recently managed capital generation, dividends, and reinsurance relations across all Transamerica companies and affiliates. Bonnie earned her bachelor’s degree in accounting and business administration from Coe College. She lives in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Matt Keppler brings 25 years of industry experience to the role of Chief Financial Officer, including expertise in finance, risk management, investor relations, product development and pricing for life and long-term care insurance, in addition to fixed and variable annuities.  Matt joined Transamerica in 2021, serving as President of Financial Assets. He is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries and a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries. Matt grew up near Cedar Rapids, Iowa and received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Northern Iowa. He lives in Richmond, Virginia.

Andy Williams brings more than 27 years of industry experience to the role of General Counsel, including prior legal representation of life, health, and disability insurers during 20 years of private practice in Los Angeles, California. After joining Transamerica in 2016, he served in several leadership roles, including head of litigation, interim general counsel, and most recently, as general counsel for Transamerica’s Individual Solutions division since 2020. Andy earned a bachelor’s degree from University of California Los Angeles and a law degree from Southwestern University School of Law. He lives near Baltimore, Maryland.
